This position is a part of a team supporting Shell pipelines, stations, and other pipeline facilities within an assigned geographic area.  It is a role located in a remote location with limited support staff and requires up front planning to execute tasks in a safe and timely manner.   The  successful candidate will need to thrive in a demanding environment performing a variety of roles and duties.  
 

Duties will include but are not limited to:
 

  • Scheduling and executing regulatory inspections, providing preventative maintenance, and reactive/breakdown maintenance on a wide range of mechanical equipment in accordance with the Shell Pipeline's Mechanical Inspection & Maintenance manual
  • Identifying specific process improvement needs and providing recommendations for system upgrades and streamlining
  • Assessing customer needs daily to ensure all equipment is safe and reliable for operation and maintainance per approved plans
  • Installing, troubleshooting and repairing mechanical equipment in accordance with manufacturer recommendations
  • Performing all work in a safe manner in adherence with Goal Zero
  • Following the maintenance execution process
  • Utilizing SAP Preventative Maintenance (PM) notifications and work orders to manage work processes to ensure all mechanical equipment is maintained per the scheduled maintenance plans in a timely manner
  • Managing work orders in SAP to meet maintenance requirements and reactive maintenance requests
  • Owning and organizing assigned jobs through determining material and equipment needed, scheduling downtime, and arranging for outside contractors and special items needed
  • Managing the installation, inspection, troubleshooting, and repair of mechanical equipment including pumps, bearings, seals, valves, actuators, etc.
  • Reading and understanding pump curves
  • Ensuring all installations and repairs are done in accordance with manufacturer specifications
  • Scheduling and executing regulatory inspections and complete all required paperwork
  • Maintaining seal systems and flush systems
  • Repairing seal failures
  • Testing vibration, monitor temperature trends, and other end device information
  • Analyzing and troubleshooting station flow systems
  • Interpreting and understanding equipment, station, and protective and control devices (P&CD) drawings; using knowledge to serve as expert on the equipment parameters, flow rates, pressure ratings, etc.
  • Performing alignment by using the reverse indicator and laser methods
  • Managing expectations with machine shops and vendors for timely job completion
  • Overseeing third party installations to ensure safe operations and adherence to regulations and manufacturer specifications
  • Partnering with engineering to determine required equipment and settings to meet flow and pressure requirements.
  • Responding to abnormal operation conditions
  • Working closely with technical support staff, operations staff, and other stakeholders to maintain system reliability and availability
  • Reviewing and understanding Local Operating Procedures
  • Completing and staying in compliance with required Federal, State, and Local regulations; Operator Qualification;; HSSE training and standards; and all other required applicable regulations (e.g. AQMD, SPCC, Hazmat, RCRA, Weights and Measures, etc.).
  • Actively supporting and participating in the LEAN processes, audits, inspections, and other company sponsored initiatives
  • Duties may vary based on product, location, and on/offshore.
